How To Import iTunes Playlists to Xbox Music in Windows 8

The Xbox Music app is Microsoft’s answer to iTunes and other music applications, and it’s just about as feature-rich. It can be used for streaming, purchasing and downloading music and it has a slick interface with plenty of really cool features. If you’re migrating from iTunes, there’s a few things you need to know about the Xbox Music app. First of all, it can’t import iTunes playlists. This is a bit of a bummer, but you can import your iTunes playlists to Windows Media Player and then import them to Xbox Music. The other thing you should know is that Xbox Music is not capable of importing music from CDs – you’ll need a third-party application like Music Bee to do that.

So, how do you import your iTunes playlists to Xbox Music? It’s actually fairly easy, but you’re going to have to do it one playlist at a time. Before we get down to the actual process, though, you should make sure that your iTunes playlists are in a specific format. They need to be XML files, saved in the m3u8 playlist format. They also need to be saved in the iTunes Music Library.itl file format. If your playlists are in any other format, you’re going to have to rename them and convert them to the m3u8 playlist format before you can import them to Xbox Music. Now that you’re ready, here’s how to import your iTunes playlists to Xbox Music:
